Computing Basics

You turn the computer on but it's all still a bit vague? To be a competent and confident user of your computer let me help you understand what it's all about and get the most out of your machine. Learn the basics of: 

  • The physical computer and a general understanding of how it works.
  • The Windows screen, the taskbar,  shortcuts and setting your background, screensaver and resolution etc.
  • File Explorer, where you setup and manage where your letters, photos, music, videos, and programs are stored. Understanding File Explorer is the key to a well organised computer. 
  • How to install and remove programs correctly
  • External devices.e.g. Printing, Scanning, External Hard Drives
  • Maintaining your computer so that it works efficiently
  • Basic Networking concepts (including Internet and e-mail)
